Lights, Cameras, Awards! How Photobooth Activations Can Boost Social Reach and Engagement At Your Event

An air of Hollywood glamour permeated the air, and guests and laureates brimmed with excitement at The Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards. It was a night to remember—thanks to some amazing photo booth activations capturing memories in the making.

The GG Awards are a fun and elegant evening celebrating Canada’s highest honour in the performing arts. A black-tie event, guests dress to impress and are entertained by red-carpet arrivals and tribute performances.

But what are guests to do before the main event, and how can event organizers maximize event engagement and social reach?

That’s where MDRN Activations comes in.

This year, the gala was hosted at the National Arts Center. Guests gathered at the pre-show reception and were welcomed with wine, light canapés, and two of our interactive photo booth activations.

The GG Awards were particularly exciting because we launched a new product: the SlowMoGlow.

Forget about hiring a videographer and editing team— SloMoGlow is like having a mini movie production studio at your event, and it takes less than a minute from start to finish. It's the ultimate interactive activity to entertain event guests. Plus, the easily shareable content will drive any event’s social reach.

The process is simple— and fun! The Director instructs the guest on what movements to make. After 8-10 seconds of video capture, they run the footage through software that cuts the scenes, adds music and special effects like slow-mo, and creates an outro video animation that’s ideal for your personal branding.

Our software then packages the final video, and we provide guests with a handy QR code for easy sharing across social media platforms.

The result? A memorable experience for guests and the perfect opportunity for event organizers to increase their social media reach and enhance their social media presence.

Guests also enjoyed the classic 360 Video Booth at the GG Awards. A red-carpet staple, these photo booth activations have been a hit at renowned awards ceremonies. Think Vanity Fair Oscar’s Party chic.

For the SlowMoGo activation, we created a custom glowing booth frame with a reflective backdrop that mirrored the glamour of the event.

The 360 Video Booth featured a custom LED light sign that read #GGAwards and #PrixGG— perfect for event branding and maximizing social media impact.
